Rotten Sound – Murderworks – CD Review

Easily one of the greatest Grindcore bands ever is Rotten Sound. Their latest masterpiece is titled “Murderworks” [Necropolis Records] is more of a return to their early Crustcore/Grind Metal genesis. And it has some cool extras (3 videos that'll play on a computer).

The Rotten Sound dynamic has a fierce beauty-mixing elements of Crust, Hardcore, and Grindcore Metal into pure primal, poetic brutality. Apocalyptic Death growl vocals burst through blistering, machinegun guitar barrages of dense, gore-soaked aggression. The insane rhythms nail it all tightly together into a sublime monstrosity.

The most killer tracks include the crushing assault of “Targets,” “Doom,” “Suffer,” the fiery “Seeds,” and the violent creation “Void.” Rotten Sound creates beauty through chaos, meaning through destruction. And they do it brilliantly.

Overall, Rotten Sound is glorious wreckage that makes us love Metal. This is one of the best, and most brutal releases of 2002. Stay savage. Farewell.

Related Bands: Acid Bath, Circle Of Dead Children, Unearth, Vulgar Pigeons, Phobia, A.C., Blood Duster, Napalm Death, Meshuggah, Nasum, etc.

Keep the faith, and the AGGRESSION. Peace.
