U.S. Crush Demo – CD Review

This little demo was handed to me during the usual after show flyering/distribution feeding frenzy. Then, I got home last night, and another copy was magically waiting for me on my doorstep. Not to be ignored, it’s a 3-song demo by a band on the Immortal Records label called U.S. Crush.

Due in stores on March 14th; I’m sure that several retailers will be selling this easy-to-swallow, easy to play on KROQ, punk rock band to all the 13 year olds that love to skate and snowbaord. I can relate. I love a decent punk rock, no brainer band. It’s just plain fun sometimes to not have to be serious, not care whether you’re cool or not, and just be silly and bounce around a bit.

The first song on the demo, ‘Bleed’, is probably the one that I’d choose for the single. It’s the one that has a slight “Oasis but heavier” feel to it. Although I f**king cannot stand Oasis, I can allow myself to enjoy this track long enough to listen if it were to come on the radio. It’s one of those good convertible-in-the-Summer songs. (Even if I don’t like convertibles.)

‘Loser’ is punk-influenced yet still pretty pop, and ‘Destroy’ is the most punk rock of all. If you got into Blink 182 and bands of that genre last year, you’ll most likely dig U.S. Crush.
