Heavy Metal II Soundtrack – CD Review

Take a look at a few of the artists on this bombshell:

Monster Magnet, KMFDM, Pantera, Insane Clown Posse, System Of A Down, Machine Head, Full Devil Jacket, Hate Dept. Puya, Apartment 26, and Coal Chamber. Oh, but wait, there’s more. There are 18 tracks on the new ‘Heavy Metal FAKK2 Soundtrack’ (Restless Records) and you’re in for an audible explosion with pretty much every one of them.

As far as compilation CDs go, this one will please all the heavy music fans out there in a big way. It’s hard to say at this point, since I have yet to see the actual movie, which songs will end up being played as the actual background music in the movie itself, but some surprises should be saved for later, I suppose. It’s wierd with soundtracks these days. They say it’s a soundtrack, but what happens is that many of the songs end up being additions to a compilation CD just like any other with very little to do with the actual movie at all. I guess we’ll see, won’t we?

Truthfully, it’s difficult to “review” each song individually because there are so many of them, and to do that would really spoil it for a lot of people, I think. Let’s just say if you’re a true fan of any of the bands included on this project, then you’re going to be a happy camper. In addition, there are bands such as Pantera and Full Devil Jacket, that have new releases pending for Spring, and this will be a nice teaser for you all.

In any case, there is new material from a lot of the bands that you treasure and some interesting eyebrow raisers as well. How often would you expect to see Billy Idol or Bauhaus on the same CD as Pantera? Some call that blasphemy while others would call it a blessing.
