From the shining darkness of the abyss rises one of the most intense, controversial Black Metal bands ever. That band is the ferocious Acheron, whose 2004 opus titled “Rebirth: Metamorphosing Into Godhood” [The End/Black Lotus Records] is a monumental work of Black/Power Grind. They truly stand-out in the quality of their primal sound, especially amongst the masses of less-than-mediocre Black Metal.
Acheron is brutal, brilliant, and with epic groove. Their instrumentals are flawless, harsh, bleeding with crushing hook, and tenebrous. Tempos are powerful, not frenzied. Strong, guttural growls are the vocal modus. (The lyrics are offensive…so you have been warned.)
The best of these beasts includes “Xomaly,” the vampire ode to violence “The Kindred,” and the vicious “Bow Before Me.” This is their best release since “Seven Deadly Sins.” They are one of the greatest Black Metal bands ever….
Overall, Acheron is simply killer. This is one of the BEST Black Metal releases of 2004. Stay savage. Farewell.
