The Metalcore band God Forbid is a wonder of violence, mixing pure primal power with a graceful quality that is beyond epic. Their 2004 opus, “Gone Forever” [Century Media Records], takes a solid Metalcore aesthetic a tempers it with blasts of Grindcore and melodic elements. God Forbid is charged with extremity.
Acidic, shrill growled vocals burn through dense waves of crushing guitars and tight, concussive rhythms. They sometimes use some clean vocals, which are at best so-so. But overlooking that one weakness, God Forbid is still quite exceptional.
The best of these bestial numbers includes the brutal “Better Days,” “Gone Forever,” the harsh dynamic of “Antihero,” “Washed-Out World,” and the visceral “Soul Engraved.” God Forbid is intense and insanely cool.
Overall, God Forbid is extremely talented. This one is a Metalcore must…. Stay savage. Farewell.
