Chimaira – The Impossibility Of Reason – CD Review

At last, the ferocious Chimaira has returned. Their 2003 sophomore effort, “The Impossibility Of Reason” [Roadrunner Records], is a stunning masterpiece of uninhibited brutality. Chimaira takes it to the limit, and beyond.

Welding together a jagged, volatile mixture of Aggro and Death Metal, Chimaira has created a style of massive, menacing beauty. Acidic, growled vocals burn through the blasting roar of kinetic guitars. It's catchy and harsh–the best of both worlds.

The best of these killer cuts includes the bipolar “Down Again,” “Crawl,” “Implements Of Destruction,” “Stigmurder,” the fiery “The Impossibility Of Reason,” and “Pure Hatred.” Chimaira is brutality at its best.

Overall, Chimaira has surpassed their previous, excellent release with “The Impossibility Of Reason.” This one is a winner, reason or not. Stay savage. Farewell.

Related Bands: Motograter, Slipknot, Dry Kill Logic, 36 Crazyfists, Mudvayne, Lifer, Flaw, Static-X, Stone Sour, No One, Simon Says, Sworn Enemy, Downthesun, etc.

Keep the faith, and the AGGRESSION. War.
